Priced competitively, our control panel still maintains the reputation for quality that helped Hydromatic products become known as “America’s best.” Through the use of improved design, made possible by state-of-the-art electronics, the control panel offers a simplicity never before seen in a panel that provides such extensive capabilities and such a wide range of features and options. In addition, the advanced design allows assembly line methods to be used which result in remarkably fast turnaround. In many cases, simplex and duplex panels ship within 5 (five) working days or less from the time the order is received at the factory.

The less complicated the design and engineering, the more efficiently and quickly the unit may be assembled, and the fewer the chances for problems in operation. Contained in those basic facts are the reasons why printed circuit boards in our simplex and duplex control panels now replace complicated wiring used in the past. The circuit boards, called pump controllers, receive information (inputs) on what needs to be done and send instructions (outputs) to the pump on what to do and when to do it. In addition, the pump controllers provide the capability to tap into the contactor and overload circuits during assembly, in order to install options without having to connect and reconnect complex wiring.

No redesigning of circuits is needed. The simplex pump controller is designed to accept such options as an elapsed time meter and/or pump failure indicator. The duplex pump controller can accept elapsed time meters for each pump, time relay lag pump, lead pump selector switch. The options that can be handled by either simplex or duplex panels are virtually unlimited. In operation, the pump controller receives its “inputs” from the floats, overload from the pump contactor, heat sensor in pumps (where used) and options which may include a lead pump selector switch, auxiliary contact on the contactor, time delay lag pump, etc. The “outputs” from the pump controller instruct the contactor coil when to energize, send voltage to the coil in the contactor requiring it, and activate the functioning of options as required. While it is extremely unlikely that the pump controller would ever need to be replaced, it can be done, if necessary, at nominal cost and in a few minutes. The type of wire connectors used with the pump controller boards makes replacement quick and easy.

Each control panel is custom built and individually tested. After a panel has been custom constructed to meet the specifier’s requirements, it is installed in its enclosure and all functions are thoroughly tested before shipment. The control panel assembly and testing area is located within the Hydromatic pump manufacturing facility. The panel shop is an authorized U.L. producer of industrial controls. The design of the control panel provides for such flexibility in adding options that each panel is custom assembled to meet individual specifications without costly time delays in engineering. A typical duplex panel would include the standard features depicted below and could include options such as shown.

Enclosures meet NEMA 4X, U.L. 94 V-O requirements and are UV stabilized, yet there is no cost penalty for these watertight and flame-retardant ratings. The material used in thermal-forming is an engineered plastic that provides high strength, high resiliency, withstands hard blows and is corrosion-resistant. The inconspicuous steel gray color is inherent to the material so painting is never required.
The design of the back panel is an important part of the reason we are able to offer such fast turnaround on orders. The base components for all voltages and phases have predetermined locations for mounting to the appropriate back panel. A computer selects the smallest possible back panel and enclosure size needed to accommodate the physical requirements of each panel including the options. Dead front doors are available and the standard offering is a through-the-door main disconnect switch, fused or non-fused.
